What veneers can change

Veneers can cover stains that whitening cannot remove, close small gaps, lengthen short or worn teeth, and even out chipped or slightly uneven teeth. A set of veneers on the front teeth, often called a smile makeover or Hollywood smile, changes the look of your whole smile.

Veneers do not straighten teeth. If your teeth are crooked, braces or aligners first may give a better and more conservative result.

Composite or e.max veneers?

  • Composite veneersTooth-coloured resin shaped directly on your teeth in one visit. Little or no tooth is removed, they cost less and can be repaired, but they stain and wear sooner.
  • E.max veneersThin porcelain shells made by a dental laboratory. They look very natural and resist staining, but a thin layer of enamel is usually removed first, which cannot be undone.

The dentist explains which suits your teeth and your goals.

How much do veneers cost in Dubai?

Risks and side effects

  • Removing enamel for porcelain veneers cannot be undone; those teeth will always need a veneer or crown.
  • Teeth can feel sensitive for a few days after preparation.
  • Veneers can chip, crack or come off and need repairing or replacing, especially with teeth grinding.
  • Composite veneers stain and wear faster than porcelain and need polishing or repairs.
  • Veneers do not whiten later, so whiten natural teeth first if you want a lighter shade.
  • Decay can form at the edges of veneers if they are not cleaned well.

Results vary from person to person. Your dentist explains the risks for your own case before you decide.

Aftercare

  • Brush twice a day and clean between your teeth every day.
  • Avoid biting very hard things such as ice, nut shells or fingernails.
  • Wear a night guard if you grind your teeth.
  • Limit tea, coffee and smoking, especially with composite veneers.
  • Come for regular check-ups and cleanings.
